AFRICAN QUEEN BRUME SEALS WORLD CHAMPS QUALIFICATION

Three-time African champion Ese Brume blew the rest of the field away at the Turkish University Games in Samsun, winning the Long Jump with a mark of 6.76m.

Brume, competing for Eastern Mediterranean University, thereby sealed qualification for the World Athletics Championship in Doha later in the year, having exceeded the 6.72m cut-off distance, and will hope to better her previous showing at the World Champs in 2017, when she finished in 17th place.

The 23-year-old also finished ahead of the pack in the 200m, running a time of 24.56 seconds.
