Nigeria international Mikel Agu is in the thick of preseason preparations for the upcoming Primeira Liga season with SC Vitoria Guimaraes.
“Every day, we are doing what the coach asks of us, with the group united,” the 27-year-old told the official club website.
“We will accelerate to start in the best way at the beginning of the season, because gaining points in the first games will leave us more confident so that we can have a good season.
“Preseason is this sacrifice, this is not new for me. Every year we have to do it, and at this stage the important thing is to concentrate, try to rest as much as possible, to be well on the field and in training. There are says when the pace will be very intense. If we don’t rest well, then we will have a lot of difficulty in training.
“Preseason is to suffer, so we suffer now so that we can gain form, apply everything in the future and win as soon as the championship starts.”
Combative midfielder Agu enjoyed a strong season with Os Conquistadores, making 24 appearances in all competitions for the club in a 2019/20 season that was punctuated with injuries. Vitoria finished the league season in 7th, two points and two places short of their 2018/19 finish and outside the European places.
