Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme was among the goals for his Turkish side, Trabzonspor in their 6-2 drubbing of Kayserispor on Saturday evening.

Trabzonspor got off to the brightest of starts when Alexander Sorloth put them ahead in the 7th minute with a strong finish after fighting off the challenge of two opposition defenders.

Thirty minutes later, Nwakaeme doubled the advantage for the home side; he controlled a ball from Jose Sousa before smashing home with his left foot for his second goal in four games. However, Omer Uzun pulled one back for the visitors before halftime to reduce the deficit going into the break.

Minutes after the interval, Trabzonspor regained their two-goal goal lead with Daniel Sturridge’s goal and his penalty in the 66th minute further gave them more breathing space.

Abdulkadmir Parmak then made it 5-1 six minutes later, but Artem Kravets goal in the 82nd minute didn’t bring any respite to the scoreline, as Sorloth scored his second of the game in stoppage time to put Kayserispor out of their misery.

With the win, Unal Karaman’s side stay third on the Turkish Super Lig log with 32 points after 17 games played.

Nwakaeme, 30, has played in all league games for the Black Sea Storm so far this season, contributing five goals and four assists.
