Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo is enthused at the prospect of making his international debut in Tuesday’s friendly against Ukraine.
The 23-year-old, who joined the Scottish giants in the summer, earned a maiden call-up to the Nigeria national team on the back of an impressive season with Charlton last term, as well as a handful of strong showings in the Europa League qualifiers with the Gers, where he has scored four goals in seven appearances so far this campaign.
“I am really happy to have got this call-up to Nigeria,” said Aribo on Monday. “I just want to make the most of it and play as long as possible and just do what I can for the team and make sure that we continue being the best that we can be.”
With neither League One nor the Scottish top flight enjoying the widespread viewership, there is a lot of curiosity as to what the midfielder can offer to the Africa Cup of Nations bronze medallists.
“I am a central midfielder and I like to get in and around the box. I can defend and I can attack,” Aribo said.
