Nigeria international Joe Aribo is back in training with Scottish club Rangers, wearing protective head gear after a nasty blow to the head saw him substituted in the cup.
The 22-year-old was busted open by an elbow from Livingston defender Rickie Lamie in a Scottish League Cup quarter final game last week, and required 20 stitches after being taken off with copious bleeding from his forehead. Manager Steven Gerrard was incensed, declaring the elbow “serious foul play”.
It was rumoured the injury would rule him out for a couple of weeks, and potentially see him miss the international window, during which Nigeria’s Super Eagles are set to face Brazil in Singapore.
However, he has now returned to training, sporting head gear with heavy bandaging underneath. He will miss the Gers Europa League match against Swiss side Young Boys though, as well as Sunday’s Premiership game against Hamilton.
