Lille Sporting Director Luis Campos has admitted that the French side will find it difficult to fend off interest from other clubs for star striker Victor Osimhen.
The Nigeria international has taken to French football, scoring in every home game so far for Lille and leading the league in scoring, with seven in his opening eight games. This form has seen him win the club’s Player of the Month award twice already this term, and this week he was also voted Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September, ahead of Algeria international Islam Slimani.
He scored against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League early this month, and already there have been rumours linking him with a move away from Lille after only a couple of months.
“When you are a club like Lille, it is difficult to keep hold of a striker who scores goals. We’ll be under assault,” Campos told RMC Sport.
Campos, on whose insistence the club pushed the boat out for Osimhen, is however realistic as to what Les Dogues can offer within their model, which is built around making huge profits on player sales.
“Like all the players who have arrived at Lille in this project, the idea is to continue to help them to improve, for them to help the club and the team to improve in turn.”
