Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze scored for Villarreal in their entertaining 4-4 home draw against Granada on Saturday.
The 20-year-old exciting talent had an excellent breakthrough season with the Yellow Submarines last term, and picked up right where he left off with a well-taken goal 18 minutes from time.
In a goalfest at the Estadio de la Ceramica on the opening weekend of the 2019/20 La Liga season, Villarreal went 1-0 up in the 33rd minute through Santi Cazorla’s penalty kick. Newly-promoted Granada got back on level terms with a penalty of their own from Fede Vico in the sixth minute of additional time.
Eight minutes after the break, Moi Gomez put Villarreal back in front, but the home side were once again pegged back by a Ruben Pena own-goal in the 62nd minute.
Villarreal went back in front through Gerard Moreno’s beautiful solo goal. Samuel Chukwueze then doubled the lead with a placed shot into the bottom corner.
Roberto Soldado netted a third for the visitors in the 75th minute, before Antonio Puertas ensured the comeback was complete with a well placed header in the 80th minute.
Former Nigeria U-20 midfielder Ramon Azeez also featured in the game, coming on for Yan Brice in the 69th minute.
