Paderborn lost 3-2 to reigning champions Bayern Munich on Saturday in the Bundesliga, but the highlight of the game was a tremendous long-range strike from Nigeria international Jamilu Collins.
The champions began on a strong note, going into the lead after just 15 minutes. Philippe Coutinho’s pinpoint pass found Serge Gnabry, who finished confidently to send Niko Kovac’s men into the half-time break in the lead.
After the restart, Bayern Munich made it 2-0, with Gnabry returning the favour for Coutinho to score in the 55th minute. Kai Proger halved the deficit for the home side in the 68th minute with a smart finish from inside the penalty box. With about ten minutes left to play, Robert Lewandowski further increased the visitor’s lead with a goal of his own.
Five minutes after Bayern restored their two-goal lead, Collins powered home a thunderbolt from about 30 yards to set up a nervy finish to the game. It would, however, only serve as consolation, as Paderborn went down 3-2,
Collins has been an ever-present so far this season for the newly-promoted side, featuring in all of their opening six league games.
