Nigerian striker David Okereke scored his side’s opener in a 2-0 away win for Club Brugge at SV Zulte Waregem in the Belgian Jupiler League on Wednesday night.
Okereke, who had been out of form in recent weeks, ended his drought at the weekend with the equalizer against Standard Liege, and made it two in as many league games for Brugge.
The league leaders made their intentions to get back to winning ways known in the first half, as David Okereke ran into the box and slammed home Ruud Vormer’s pass to open the scoring after 23 minutes.
After the interval, Zulte tried to fight their way back into the contest, but Mbaye Diagne, on as a substitute for Okereke, scored in the second minute of injury time to take all three points for the Blue and Blacks.
Phillippe Clement’s men are still top of the pile with 30 points, three more than second-placed Standard Liege.
The 22-year-old Okereke has scored six goals in eleven games so far this term.
