On November 25, the news of the sad passing of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona rocked the media space. The 60-year-old professional footballer and manager is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, and African stars have taken turns to pay tribute to the fallen hero.
Cameroonian football legend Samuel Etoo and his Ivorian counterpart Didier Drogba have paid tributes to Diego Maradona. Etoo took to his twitter handle to hail the Legend; he says that 2020 has taken too much away from the world.
Drogba had only good words for the legacy set by the Napoli star, according to him, Maradona is the reason for his love for football.
Other African stars who reacted to Maradona’s death are former Ghanaian star Michael Essien and Ivorian Yaya Toure.
