Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru has completed a move to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco from Everton on a five-year-deal — the culmination of a summer-long transfer saga.
AS Monaco announced his arrival on their website on Monday evening. He becomes the latest Nigerian to move to the French top-flight after Victor Osimhen joined Lille earlier in the month.
“We are very happy to have Henry Onyekuru with us. He has demonstrated his qualities in recent seasons. He is a fast and powerful offensive player who will strengthen our offensive sector. We welcome him,” Oleg Petrov, the Vice President/General Manager of the club said.
The 22-year-old Aspire Academy graduate also spoke about his readiness to give his best for the Red and Whites after his €15million move.
“I am very happy to join a big club like AS Monaco. I will give everything to progress and help the Club to make a good season. I cannot wait to find my teammates.”
The AFCON bronze medalist joined Everton from Belgian side KAS Eupen in 2017, but did not make a single competitive appearance for the Toffees due to work permit issues. He was sent out on loan to Anderlecht, where he won the Belgian Super Cup, and then to Galatasaray last season, where he scored 16 goals and helped the Turkish giants to a League and Cup double.
