Forward Chidera Ejuke is the subject of significant interest from Russian side CSKA Moscow.
The Heerenveen man enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2019/20 with the Eredivisie side after joining from Norwegian club Valerenga. He recorded 10 goals and four assists in 29 appearances in all competitions for the Frisians, and topped the league in successful dribbles per game with 4.1 (a 56 percent success rate). His performances earned him rave reviews in the Dutch press, and put him in the frame for a call-up to the Nigeria national team.
However, in the wake of speculation linking Ejuke with a number of clubs in Europe including Italian side Lazio and Dutch champions Ajax, it now appears the likeliest destination for the former Liverpool trialist is the Russian Premier League. Per a report in Friesland-based daily Leeuwarder Courant, CSKA Moscow are willing to pay a fee in the region of 12 million euros for the 22-year-old.
It would make Ejuke the third-most expensive sale in Heerenveen’s history. Crucially, it would also allow the club balance the books, while providing sporting director Gerry Hamstra with the means to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2020/21 Eredivisie season.
CSKA are the former club of Nigeria international captain Ahmed Musa.
