Nigeria international William Troost-Ekong has signed a contract extension with Italian side Udinese which ties him to the club since 2023.
Ekong, 26, has been close to an ever-present with Le Zebrette this season, starting nine of their opening 10 games in Serie A this season, and has impressed for the mid-table Serie A outfit. He was in top form this past weekend in the 3-1 comeback win over Genoa at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
The former Bursaspor defender has been present for four of Udinese’s clean sheets this term, and saw his profile boosted by a strong campaign with the Nigeria national team at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt in the summer. He has captained the Super Eagles during the last two international windows, and has been called up for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho later this month.
Ekong has made 44 appearances since joining Udinese in the summer of 2018/19.
