Nigeria international Emmanuel Dennis was among the goals as Club Brugge beat KRC Gent 4-0 in the Belgian top division on Sunday afternoon.
Dennis, who during the past week scored a famous brace against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu in the UEFA Champions League, scored early in the second half to put Philippe Clement’s side three goals up after 51 minutes.
With just eleven minutes of action, the Belgian champions went into the lead. Krepin Diatta was on hand to put it on a plate for Hans Vanaken to open scoring. Two minutes before the half-hour, Diatta made it 2-0 and it stayed that way until the break.
Six minutes after the restart, Dennis tucked home his third goal in six days to pile more misery on Gent, nicking the ball off a defender before running clear, overcoming a stumble and blasting past Gent goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski. In the final minute of added time, Senegal international Mbaye Diagne added a fourth to complete the rout.
Club Brugge remain unbeaten this season and are still top of the pile with 23 points. Dennis has now scored three league goals this term.
