Hungarian side MOL Fehérvár have confirmed the signing of former Nigerian youth international Funsho Bamgboye from fellow Hungarian side Szombathelyi Haladás for an undisclosed fee.

The club announced Bamgboye’s arrival on Saturday, with Sporting Director Zoltán Kovács speaking highly of the Ibadan-born striker.

“He has shown his skills in adult football but he did it for a troubled team [Haladas]. I am sure that these qualities will be further developed under the guidance of our professional staff, as he is still only 20 years old. The big competition will certainly have a good impact on his development.” said the club official

Bamgboye spent three years at the Haladas Sportkomplexum, for whom played 36 matches in the Nemzeti Bajnoksag I, contributing four goals and four assists.

A delighted Bamgboye spoke to the club’s media about his move to Vidi.

“I have a great opportunity to join Vidi because they are one of the best teams in the country. I would like to celebrate the championship here and also be attractive to show myself in Europe.

“I have been playing in Hungary for a while now so naturally I know about this club. It was not a difficult decision to move here,” the former Aspire Academy striker concluded.

The 20-year-old was part of Nigeria’s victorious team to the 2015 U17 World Cup in Chile.
