FORMER NIGERIA U-20 CAPTAIN ISAAC PROMISE DIES AT 31

America USL side, Austin Bold FC have announced the sudden passing of former Nigerian international Isaac Promise at the age of 31.

According to a statement made available on the club’s website, Isaac died on Wednesday night. Cause of death, however, was not revealed.

“The greatest loss a team can suffer is not the scoreboard, it’s the death of a fellow teammate,” the club’s chairman, Bobby Epstein said.

“It’s with shock and grief that we acknowledge the sudden death of Promise Isaac”

“On behalf of the BOLD organization; we wish his wife, children and family strength and peace as they struggle to cope with his death.”

A well-travelled player before his death, Isaac joined the American side back in August 2018 after 12 seasons across the Turkish Süper Lig, TFF First League, and the Saudi Professional League where he accrued over 350 appearances, scoring 79 goals.

Apart from winning silver with the U-20 side in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship, the Zaria-born striker also won a silver medal with the Nigeria U-23 team at the Beijing Summer Olympics in 2008.
