Dutch Eredevisie side Heerenveen have announced the signing of former Nigerian youth international Chidera Ejuke from Norwegian side, Valerenga on a four-year deal. The switch, confirmed by both parties, is reportedly worth about €2 million.
Heerenveen technical director Gerry Hamstra spoke to the club’s website concerning the signing of the former Gombe United winger: “We are proud that Chidera has chosen us. We have been following him for some time and know his qualities.
“With Chidera we brought in a player for whom the people come to the stadium. With his speed, dribbling and scoring ability, he fits in perfectly with SC Heerenveen.”
The excited Ejuke also spoke to the club website about himself and his move to the Netherlands.
”I am a technical player and I love creating opportunities for myself, but also for my teammates. I enjoy creating goals together. I like beautiful and good football; I want to show my skills and score as many goals as possible and give assists.
“This is a nice club with a good reputation. Talents get the chance to develop here. I want to get the most out of myself and ultimately play at the highest possible level. That is why I think it is the right step for me.”
The 21-year-old made 69 appearances for Valerenga, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists. He was previously linked with Lazio and Besiktas, before earning a switch to the Abe Lenstra Stadium.
