Super Eagles and AS Monaco forward Henry Onyekuru has explained his reasons for rejoining Galatasaray during the winter transfer window.
In January, the forward rejoined the Istanbul Lions on loan until the end of the season without an option to buy. Onyekuru had endured a difficult start to life at the Principality following his summer switch from Everton for £12.5m.
In a recent interview, Onyekuru clarified that it was his decision to return to the Turkish giants in search of game time.
“I had explained to the new coach Moreno, who actually wanted me to stay
but I told him I needed to go somewhere else, clear my head and have some playing time,” he said.
In his first stint with the Turkish giants, Onyekuru made 31 league appearances,
scoring 14 goals to help them clinch the 2018-19 Super Lig title.
