Super Eagles goalkeeper and new Sparta Rotterdam signing Maduka Okoye has stated he’s not under any pressure to become the number one for the senior men’s national team.
The former Fortuna Dusseldorf shot-stopper says he is focused on working hard to become Gernot Rohr’s first-choice goalkeeper, but is aware he is the youngest in the pool available.
“I’m not feeling pressured. I am still young, there is a lot of time but the other goalkeepers should notice me now. I am working very hard to put the other guys – my brothers – under pressure; we will see what the coach is thinking,” Okoye told the press in the aftermath of joining Sparta Rotterdam.
Okoye, who joined Eredivisie side from German club Fortuna Düsseldorf last Monday, will compete for the number one spot in the Super Eagles with Francis Uzoho, who also signed for Apoel Nicosia this summer after spending the past year on loan at city rivals Omonia.
