Nigeria forward Peter Olayinka helped himself to a goal in Slavia Prague’s 2-0 win over FK Jablonec in the Czech 1. Liga on Sunday.

Unbeaten Slavia went into the game looking for their fifth consecutive win but were made to work for it at the Chance Arena. It was a goalless first half as both teams failed to find the back of the net despite a host of chances to score.

After the break, the league leaders kept pushing for a way through and were rewarded for their dominance twenty minutes from time. Good work from Provod Stanciu – his shot was saved by Vlastimil Hruby but Tomas Soucek was on hand to tuck home the rebound off the post for the game’s opener.

Three minutes later, Olayinka added a second, ghosting in at the near post to put Stanciu’s low cross beyond the reach of the goalkeeper and thereby make sure of the points for the champions.

The 23-year old Olayinka has now increased his tally in the league for the red and whites to four goals. Up next for him: making his debut for the Super Eagles, when they face Brazil on October 13.
