Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho scored a second-half goal to rescue a 1-1 draw for Leicester City against visiting Aston Villa in the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.
The first leg of the Cup semi-final swung into life when Frederic Guilbert gave the visitors a shock 28th-minute lead, directing Anwar El Ghazi’s inch-perfect cross past Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel.
After the break, Leicester City continued to mount pressure on the visitors, who struggled to exit their own half, in search of the equaliser.
Iheanacho was introduced in place of Ayoze Perez in the 69th minute and he drew them level five minutes later. The Super Eagles forward fired high into the roof of the net past Orjan Nyland after being played through by Jamie Vardy.
The Foxes kept pushing hard in search of the winner, but the game finished 1-1 on the night.
Despite only sporadic game time, Iheanacho has a return of six goals from eight games for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season.
