MAJA INVITED FOR UKRAINE INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY
As part of the international break of the footballing calendar, Nigeria will trade tackles with Ukraine in Dnipro on the 10th of September. Gernot Rohr has invited many players to camp; both old and new players. Among the new players invited is Bordeaux 20-year-old forward Joshua Maja. The player is not a new face in the national team as he was invited to train with team ahead of an international friendly against Burkina Faso, 2 years ago, but the game was later canceled and he could not get his debut with the squad.
Maja got signed Bordeaux in January and he has been able to score 1 goal in seven appearances before he had a knee injury setback.
Maja was a former Sunderland player in the English championship and he scored one goal in 17 appearances in the 2017-2018 season, the team got relegated and Maja was a key player for the team.
Maja started the new Ligue 1 season on a very good pace.
Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr had earlier said that he could call the starlet up to join the squad ahead of the international friendly at the Dnipro Arena next Tuesday.
It was confirmed on his club’s website that Maja has been selected.
“ Nigeria coach Rohr has called up Josh Maja in the squad to face Ukraine on 10 September in a friendly. “The young striker will join his team-mate attacker in Bordeaux, Samuel Kalu. This will be his first full call in the national team.”
