Africa table tennis superpower Nigeria will represent the continent at the 2019 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Team World Cup in Tokyo, Japan
The Nigeria men’s team qualified for this tournament by winning the African Championships in Mauritius in 2018. However, it will be the nation’s first appearance at the Team World Cup since 2010.
The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) has named a five-man team for the World Cup in Tokyo. Led by seven-time Olympian Segun Toriola, other members of the team include Africa’s best player Aruna Quadri, Africa Games champion Olajide Omotayo, Bode Abiodun and Azeez Solanke.
The tournament will feature continental champions and the highest-ranked teams in Europe, totalling 12 in number with hosts Japan included.
The five-day event will begin on November 6 and end on 10th November, with the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium being the venue of the test event ahead of the 2020 Olympics in the same city.
