Former Inter, Rubin Kazan and Newcastle striker Obafemi ‘Obagoal’ Martins has joined Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua for the second time in his illustrious and well-travelled career.
Martins joins the club as a free agent having played for 8 clubs in Italy, England, Germany, Spain, Russia and the USA before playing at Shanghai from 2016-2018.
Obagoal has been inactive for two years after he was released by his current club when he after suffered an injury that was deemed to be career-ending.
The signing of the former Super Eagles hitman is as a result of compatriot Odion Ighalo’s decision to extend his loan deal at Man United for a further 6 months till January.
Martins was outstanding in his first tenure at the industrial club where he bagged 32 goals out of 59 matches including emerging as the top goal scorer of the 2017 Chinese FA Cup.
Shenhua will face reigning CSL champions Guangzhou Evergrande on the opening day of the season on July 25 and Martins could make his second debut.
