Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is set to return to the Spanish La Liga where he is expected to sign a short-term deal with Getafe.
According to Football Espana, the Nigerian’s signature is the priority of coach Jose Bordalas, who is trying to get a replacement for the retiring Markel Bergara.
In addition, the player’s intermediary Eddie Ogbemudia also confirmed the former Warri Wolves player’s move back to Spain on a six-month loan spell.
The 24-year-old has not been able to make any meaningful impact this term for Stoke City, and has seen his season plagued by injuries and lack of game time even when fit.
Etebo previously played in the Spanish top-flight, featuring 14 times for Las Palmas in the 2017/18 season, before earning an £8million move to Stoke City following an impressive campaign with Nigeria at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
This loan move can be made permanent at the end of the season by sixth-placed Los Azulones, though his contract with Stoke will run out in 2023.
