OKAGBARE SEEKS DIAMOND LEAGUE 200M FINAL QUALIFICATION IN BIRMINGHAM


Beijing 2008 Bronze medallist Blessing Okagbare will be hoping to cement her spot in the women’s 200m final at the 10th leg of the IAAF Diamond League (DL) taking place in Birmingham on Sunday, August 18th.

Okagbare, the record-holder when it comes to appearances in the DL, currently occupies the fifth spot the top 7 in the 200m, having churned in 14 points from two races in the 200m on the circuit this season.

In Birmingham, Okagbare comes up against the reigning Diamond Trophy holder in the event, Shaunae Miller-Uibo, who is just two points short of qualification after her victory in Monaco.

Also, reigning European Champion Dina Asher-Smith, who has already secured qualification to the final after her double victory at the beginning of the season will lace her spikes alongside Okagbare, while 2017 World Champion, Dafne Schippers will also add spice to the race.

The women’s 200m Diamond League Final will take place in Zurich on August 29.
