Nigeria international Okechukwu Azubuike has completed his move to Turkish side, Istanbul Basaksehir FK on a season-long loan deal.
The Nigeria U-23 captain sealed his move from Egyptian side, Pyramids FC on Wednesday ahead of the new season and says he is highly delighted to join the capital club for the whole of the 2019/2020 Season.
“I feel happy and proud of myself and I’m thankful to God for the opportunity,” Azubuike told ACL Sports
“It’s a dream come true for me to join a Champions League side. I am excited for this because it is a big step forward in my career,” concluded the former Yeni Malatyaspor man.
Azubuike played in the Turkish Super League for Çaykur Rizespor last term after he moved from Pyramids in January. His performances for the Black Sea Sparrowhawks must have caught the attention of Istanbul Basaksehir, who snapped him up ahead of fellow Turkish sides Galatasaray and Besiktas.
The former Bayelsa United midfielder will play alongside former Real Madrid star Robinho, who recently joined the side at the Fatih Terim Stadium.
The 22-year-old is expected to feature in this season’s UEFA Champions League under his former manager at Rizespor, Okan Buruk, who was appointed as Basaksehir’s head coach last month.
