David Okereke was on target again for Club Brugge in their 2-0 away win over Oostende at the Versluys Arena on Saturday evening.
Okereke, who scored a brace in the previous league game against Sint-Truiden, broke the deadlock minutes after coming on for the Blue-Black on Saturday evening.
Having made his debut in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, Okereke started the game on the bench but was sent on in the 58th minute alongside South African international Percy Tau, with Siebe Schrijvers and Jelle Vossen making way as Club Brugge chased the game.
Philippe Clement’s men eventually went ahead when the 21-year-old Okereke powered home a header in the 72nd minute to take his tally to four goals from three games. With about eight minutes left to play, Tau made the points safe for Club Brugge with a neat finish to claim yet another win.
With that third consecutive league victory, Clement’s men sit top of the pile with nine points from three games, two points ahead of second placed KV Mechelen.
Club Brugge and Okereke return to UEFA Champions league action on August 13 with the return leg fixture against Dynamo Kyiv as they look to reach the group stages of Europe’s elite competition.
