The Nigerian pair of Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem will be playing under new management at Leganes following the sacking of erstwhile manager Mauricio Pellegrino.
Leganes lost 2-0 to Getafe on Saturday, perpetuating a nine-match winless run since the start of the La Liga season. So far this term, Los Pepineros have picked up just two points, and sit rock bottom of La Liga with four goals scored and a -10 goal difference.
“CD Leganés and Mauricio Pellegrino have decided, by mutual agreement, to part ways,” the club statement read. “The Argentine coach, who managed last season to keep the team one more year in the First Division, will not manage the team next weekend against Mallorca.”
Omeruo has credited Pellegrino, who previously managed Southampton, with reviving his career and repairing his self-image following a rash of loan spells while on the books of former club Chelsea.
