Former Nigeria youth international Orji Okonkwo scored a brace in Montreal Impact’s 4-0 win over Philadelphia Union in the Major League Soccer (MLS) on Sunday.

The Bologna loanee netted his second double of the season as his side returned to winning ways in resounding fashion at the Saputo Stadium after four consecutive defeats.

Montreal Impact got off to a flying start; Lassi Lappalain opening the scoring in the fourth minute. Okonkwo grabbed his first of the night in the 36th after being put through by Ignacio Piatti to send the Impact into the break with a two-goal advantage over the league leaders.

Shortly after the break, Lappalain made it 3-0, before Okonkwo completed the rout in the 66th-minute with a well-taken goal of his own.

The FC Abuja Academy graduate’s second was a touch of pure class. Off a counter-attack, Okonkwo received a pass from Maxi Urruti on halfway, breezed past two opposition defenders before slotting home calmly to cap off a wonderful night for him.

The 2015 U-17 World Cup Winner had previously been on loan at Brescia before he moved over to North America in January. He has scored six goals from 19 games played in the MLS regular season so far.
