Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala scored the only goal as Barcelona Femeni narrowly beat Sporting de Huelva 1-0 in the Spanish Primera Iberdrola on Sunday.
Oshoala, who turned 25 on Wednesday, scored in the 2-0 win over Sevilla Ladies in the last matchday, and was also on target in Monday’s 1-1 draw against Cote d’Ivoire where the Super Falcons failed to reach the final qualifying round to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
After her time away on international duty, Oshoala was thrown straight into the starting line-up by Luis Cortes. She then went on to repay the faith shown in her by opening scoring in the 29th minute.
Barcelona Femeni could not add to Oshoala’s first-half opener, but they held on to record another routine league win. The Blaugranes retain top spot by virtue of their healthy goal difference, with 13 points from five games.
Oshoala’s latest strike has seen her increase her league tally to four goals in five league games so far this season.
