Nigeria international Victor Osimhen was instrumental to Lille’s 1-0 away win over Lyon in Ligue 1 action on Tuesday night.
The 20-year-old has been in top form for Les Dogues since joining in the summer. He provided the assist for his side’s winner as they claimed their first away win of the season, and also their first in nine months.
In the hotly contested affair at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, both sides struggled to break each other down in the opening half of the game which eventually ended goalless.
After the restart, both teams kept pushing for a breakthrough, but it was Christophe Galtier’s side who took the initiative and went ahead just eight minutes after the hour mark.
Osimhen made a deft touch to set up Jonathan Ikone who went past two Lyon defenders before finishing calmly past Anthony Lopez for what would later be the winner.
Osimhen has now taken his goal contributions for Lille to 11 this season, which includes eight goals and three assists from just 15 league games so far.
