Striker Victor Osimhen has been voted Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September, ahead of Algeria international Islam Slimani and Nantes defender Nicolas Pallois.
Osimhen polled 45 per cent of the total votes cast to best Monaco’s Slimani, who came in second with 37 percent.
The Nigeria international was in strong form for Lille in September, scoring twice and assisting twice more to help Les Dogues to eight points from a possible 15, as well as fourth spot on the league table. That was enough to edge out Slimani, whose three goals for Les Monegasques have not been sufficient in elevating the Principality club to a more respectable position on the league table.
Osimhen leads the Ligue 1 scoring charts in his debut season in France, with seven goals in the opening eight league matches, and has scored in every match in all competitions for Lille at Stade Pierre Mauroy this term. He has so far been named the club’s player of the month for both August and September.
