PAOK CONFIRM ESITI ARRIVAL
Greek side PAOK Thessaloniki have confirmed the arrival of Nigeria international Anderson Esiti on a four-year-deal from Belgian side KAA Gent.
The Greek double winners reportedly paid about €3.5 million to secure his services after they initially failed to get him in January. Esiti is also expected to earn double of what he received throughout his three years at with De Buffalo’s.
PAOK released a statement about the Nigerian’s arrival to the Toumba Stadium on their official website on Thursday.
“PAOK FC announces the signing of Anderson Esiti from KAA Gent. The Nigerian midfielder has signed a contract until 2023 and will wear the number 24 on his shirt,” the statement read.
The powerful midfielder will look to play a part in the qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League tie against Ajax for the Aspromavri in their quest to return to the group stages of Europe’s foremost competition.
Esiti had an impressive three years at Gent where he made over 95 appearances for the Belgian side and established himself as one of the team’s best players.
The 25-year-old left local side Bobbies United for Europe in 2012 and has since then featured for Leixoes and Estoril in Portugal before his breakthrough at Gent. The Warri-born player has two Super Eagles caps to his name.
