Nigeria forward Paul Onuachu came off the bench to score both goals for Genk in their 2-1 comeback win over Royal Excel Mouscron in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday night.
Onuachu, who was an unused substitute in the barren draw with Napoli in the UEFA Champions league last Wednesday, came on to remarkably turn the game around for Felice Mazzu’s men.
Having started the last two league games and scoring on both occasions, the 25-year-old began this particular encounter on the bench for the Luminous Arena outfit. The first half of the game finished goalless, with both sides failing to convert the few chances on offer.
Upon restart of the second half, Genk were shocked by the visitors, who surprisingly took the lead against the run of play through Jonah Osabutey in the 50th minute.
Paul Onuachu entered the fray on the hour mark, and went to restore parity 15 minutes later. With the game delicately poised, Onuachu then powered home a header from Joakim Maehle’s cross at the death to claim all three points for the Blue and white.
Onuachu has now taken his tally to four goals from four league appearances for the Belgian champions.
