Nigerian striker Peter Olayinka and his club Slavia Prague have retained the Czech Fortuna Liga title after the conclusion of the Czech Division 1 Championship group yesterday.
Slavia Prague who won last season’s title wrapped up their 2nd consecutive and 6th Liga campaign after a goalless draw against cross-town rivals and 12 time champions Sparta Prague.
Slavia Prague topped the table with 85pts followed by Viktoria Plzen with 76 and Sparta Prague with 60. The top two teams will qualify for the UEFA Champions qualifying rounds while Slavia, 4th placed Jablonec and Liberec in 5th will make do with places in different stages of Europa League qualifying rounds.
Peter Olayinka made his return from a broken calf bone injury, which required surgery and rehabilitation and played the last two minutes of the game, his first in over 4 months as Slavia Prague concluded a successful season that also saw them go toe to toe with Barcelona in the Champions League.
