RB Leipzig Sporting Director Markus Krosche has moved to allay concerns over the paucity of gametime afforded to forward Ademola Lookman.
The former Everton youngster returned to the Red Bull Arena in the summer, this time on a permanent deal, following a successful six-month loan spell in the latter half of the 2017/18 season.
He scored five goals and four assists in 11 games with Die Roten Bullen, and it was widely expected he would hit the ground running this time around. However, so far this season, he has made one substitute appearance, and that lasted all of 11 minutes.
Krosche, however, affirmed the club’s belief in the player’s abilities, telling Bild, “Ademola is a young, very talented player, and we are absolutely convinced of him and his qualities.”
He revealed the plan was to ease Lookman back into the action, as he played very little football last season in the Premier League, and insisted it is only a matter of time before Lookman gets his chance to shine on a more consistent basis.
“We are patient and will give him the time he needs because he didn’t play regularly at Everton last season and now has to get back to the rhythm. He’s on a very good path and will be extremely important for us.”
