Riveting: Meet Youssoufa Moukoko, Borussia Dortmund’s 16-year-old ‘wonderkid’

German football club Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko is a 16-year old Cameroun-born goal-scoring sensation. At age 13, the youngster told reporters “It is my goal to become a professional player in Dortmund, capture the Champions League with Borussia, and win the Ballon d’Or.” Moukoko who turned 16 on November 20 has scored 141 times in 88 youth matches for Borusssia Dortmund since the year 2017.

Earlier this year, Dortmund convinced the German Football League to lower the minimum age for players in the top two division of Bundesliga from 17 to 16. They then went ahead and selected Moukoko for the official Bundesliga squad in the summer, being fully aware that they would have to wait for a couple of months before he would be suitable to play.

Wasting no time, Dortmund handed the youngster his debut one day after his 16th birthday. The teenage prodigy breaks the record of being the youngest person ever to play professional match in Germany when he was introduced for the final five minutes of the game, of which they had a 5-2 victory over Hertha Berlin. In addition, come Wednesday, if he faces Club Bruges, Moukoko will become the Champions League’s youngest player.
