Serbian side Partizan Belgrade have announced the signing of former Nigeria youth international Umar Sadiq from AS Roma on a season-long loan deal following a successful medical.

The deal signed by Sadiq also includes an option for Partizan to buy him outright for a fee of £1.5m at the end of the season from parent side, AS Roma. The seven-time Serbian champions paid a loan fee of £90,000 to secure the services of the striker according to a report on Transfer News Central.

The Nigerian had a torrid time in Scotland with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, making just four appearances for the Glasgow side. He returned to Roma in January, whence he was then loaned to Perugia. Sadiq later slammed the Rangers manager, claiming his stay in Scotland was a ‘nightmare’, and claiming he was made to train with the Light Blues’ kids after being frozen out.

The 22-year-old is in his sixth loan spell away from the capital club after previous stints at Bologna, Torino and NAC Breda.

Sadiq joined AS Roma from Spezia in 2015 but has made only six appearances in all competitions for the club.
