English Championship side West Bromwich Albion have announced the signing of Nigeria international Semi Ajayi from relegated Rotherham United for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old midfielder joins on a four-year contract, and will wear the n.6 shirt for the Baggies in the upcoming season.
It’s a great opportunity for me,” Ajayi told the club website. “I want to play at the highest level and I have joined a club with the ambition to get there.
“I want to play my part in helping the team get promoted because that is definitely the target.”
Former Arsenal academy player Ajayi made 49 appearances for Rotherham in all competitions last season, and pitched in with nine goals for the Millers. Capable of playing both at centre-back and at the base of midfield, he is expected to bolster West Brom’s push for promotion to the Premier League this term.
Ajayi, who has played six times for the Nigeria national team, was into the last year of his contract with Rotherham prior to this transfer being agreed.
