Super Falcons captain Asisat Oshoala scored a double for Barcelona in a comfortable 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in Sunday’s Spanish Primera Iberdrola meeting.
The former Arsenal Women’s player continued her good form in front of goal to help Barcelona increase their lead at the top of the standings to seven points.
The Catalan giants started well in the game, but could not make their dominance count at all as the first half of the game ended goalless.
With the game still delicately poised, Barcelona coach Lluis Cortes sent Asisat Oshoala on in place of Lieke Martens on the hour mark. Four minutes later, the league leaders got their first goal through a piece of individual brilliance by Mariona Caldentey.
A second goal in the 77th minute by Oshoala essentially put paid to whatever hopes Athletic Club had of getting a result in front of their home fans at San Mamés.
Four minutes from time, Oshoala showed incredible awareness to fire into the top corner for her second of the game after a poor clearance fell into her path.
The victory takes the Blaugranes to 40 points after 14 games and moves them seven points clear of closest challengers Atletico Madrid.
Oshoala, who is expected to be at the CAF Awards Gala on Tuesday, has scored ten league goals from 13 games this season.
