Many great players have emerged from the African continent and here, we have compiled a list featuring the top 13 scorers at the premier league.


13. Fréderic Kanouté (43)

The 10th on the list is Frederic who secured this spot with a total of 43 goals during his spell in England. Hailing from Mali, Kanoute started at West Ham, managing 29 for them in a total of 4 seasons before going across London to Tottenham where he scored 14 goals in 60 appearances. Do you now know why he made the list?


12. Demba Ba (43)

Demba scored most goals in Newcastle. 29 precisely. The striker used to be at West Ham where he scored 7 in his one season and then went over to Chelsea in 2012/2013. He scored 7 goals in a two-year spell.


11. Shola Ameobi (43)

The Yoruba player, Shola is the first among the many Nigerians on this list. Ameobi did 15 seasons in the Premier League scoring all goals with Newcastle. He spent 15 years there and one season at Crystal Palace.


10. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (46)

Emerick has scored a fascinating 46 goals in just 72 league matches, scoring 14 of them this season.


9. Efan Ekoku (52)

Efan spent a total of 8 years in the Premier League, he did so with Wimbledon and Norwich, scoring 37 goals of them with the Dons.


8. Riyad Mahrez (53)

Mahrez has been on the Prem. Since he is only 28, we still have high hopes for him and believe that he can still move higher up this list. He has won the Premier League twice and has scored 7 goals for Manchester City.


7. Kanu Nwankwo (54)

A true Premier League legend is Kanu Nwakow but still not the highest Nigerian we have on this list. Kanu won the Premier League two times with Arsenal and then embarked on a journey to have spells at West Brom and Portsmouth.


6. Yaya Touré (62)

Yaya spent 9 years at Manchester City, the Ivorian player won the Premier League 3 times and scored 62 goals during that period.


5. Mohamed Salah (70)

Here is another unretired player, Salah has scored the same number of goals at the Premier League as Eric Cantona and could easily scale up the list since he is having a fabulous season at Liverpool.


4. Saido Mané (77)

Saido is not far ahead of his Liverpool colleague and scored his goals while playing with Southampton and Liverpool.


3. Yakubu Aiyegbeni (95)

Behold the top Nigerian on our list. The Yak as he is popularly called is more of a Premier League legend than Kanu, considering that he scored his goals for 4 clubs including Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton, and Blackburn. He last played in 2017 with Coventry and has since retired.


2. Emmanuel Adebayor (97)

Adebayor who is another player of Nigerian descent is not very far ahead of Yakubu and has scored 97 goals for Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Crystal Palace. Most of his goals came with Arsenal.


1. Didier Drogba (104)

Drogba is apparently the greatest footballer ever to play in the Premier League. Drogba scored over 100 premier league goals while playing for Chelsea and is the 27th highest Premier League scorer of ever known. He has won the league 4 times and the Golden Boot twice.
