Super Falcons forward Ini Umotong has signed a one-year contract extension with English Women’s Super League side Brighton & Hove Albion, keeping her at the Broadfield stadium until 2020.

The 25-year-old former Aston Villa youth player joined the Super League side from Oxford United in 2017 on a two year deal with an option for an extra year based on her performance.

The club’s coach Harry Powell spoke about the importance of tying a player of Umotong’s quality and others down ahead of another competitive season for his side.

“All of these players deserve their places in the squad, after coping well with the increased demands of the Women’s Super League,” Powell told the club website.

“They have all shown the hunger to compete at the top level, and I am very much looking forward to working with them in pre-season.

“With the introduction of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to the division, it is set to be an even tougher task, and all the players and staff need to be ready for what lies ahead,” Powell concluded.

Having scored just two goals in 20 appearances for the Seagulls last term, the Calabar-born forward will be looking to improve on her performance and do much better in the new season.
