Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho is expected to miss the remainder of the year at the least after he suffered a ligament tear in Sunday’s friendly draw against Brazil.
Uzoho had a fine performance against the five-time world Champions, but landed awkwardly after misjudging a cross, and was replaced by 20-year-old new boy Maduka Okoye in the 63rd minute of the 1-1 draw in Singapore.
His Cypriot club Omonoia Nicosia have now confirmed that he has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will spend some time on the sidelines.
“Francis Uzoho has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and external meniscus,” reads the club statement.
Presently first choice for both club and country, Uzoho will now miss Nigeria’s first set of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Benin and Lesotho in November.
