WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS YEAR’S COPA AMERICA
The 46th Copa America will hold in Brazil between the 14th of June and 7th July 2019 with its opening and closing ceremonies billed for the Estadio do Morumbi, Sao Paulo and Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro.
The tournament has 12 teams in participation this year with 10 from the CONMEBOL region and 2 invited teams from the AFC region. The teams which will lock horns with each other are divided into 3 groups.
In group A, The host Brazil will trade tackles with Peru, Venezuela, and Bolivia. In group B, 14 time-champions Argentina is paired alongside Colombia, Paraguay, and Qatar who are from the Asian Confederation. 15 time-champions and the most crowned team in the Copa America history, Uruguay is paired with current champions Chile, while Japan (an invited team from the Asian Football Confederation) and Ecuador complete group C.
The opening ceremony will kick off at 00.00 GMT in the early hours of the morning of June 15 and the first game commences by 1.30 GMT between host Brazil and Bolivia.
The tournament promises to be exciting as we are set to see beautiful football from the greatest stars on the planet like Messi, Firmino, Sanchez, Alisson, and a host of others.
