ZIMBABWE MANAGER RESIGNS AFTER CRASHING OUT OF AFCON GAMES
Coach of the Zimbabwean national team Mr. Sunday Marimo Chidzambge has resigned shortly after the AFCON tournament, this was confirmed over the weekend by Zimbabwe’s football association (ZIFA).
ZIFA spokesperson said they appreciated the good work, diligence and wise counsel of the coach and they trust he would remain available whenever they need his advice and direction, ZIFA also added that the manager’s decision came as a shock to them and it came at an inappropriate time because the national team still needed his services.
During his stay as the head coach of the Zimbabwean national team, Mr. Chidambge won 4 regional COSAFA titles, and he was able to take the national team to the African Nations Cup in 2004 and 2019.
The team lost the host team at 2019 AFCON Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo and was only able to get a draw against Uganda which led to their early elimination from the 2019 AFCON.
